Welcome

Emsworth Baptist Church is located in the heart of Emsworth on the south coast of England between Portsmouth and Chichester.

We are a growing family church serving the Lord in our community and further afield. In addition to regular Sunday worship there is an active mid-week programme. If you live in the Emsworth area or just visiting, why not come one Sunday. We'd love to see you.

Emsworth in Context

Emsworth is a picturesque harbour town located on the border of Hampshire and West Sussex, midway between Portsmouth and Chichester on the south coast of England. The harbour is part of the Chichester Harbour Conservancy and is an area of outstanding natural beauty. In years past, Emsworth was an important oyster fishing and boat building town. Boat building continues to this day albeit on a much smaller scale. Visitors delight in the various walks around the town and harbour and it is a popular port of call for yachtsmen.

About our Sunday Services

Our regular Sunday morning services start at 10:30 a.m. and the evening service at 6:30 p.m. The style of service ranges from the quiet contemplative to energetic music based worship. The music groups that support our services each Sunday comprise of 3 to 7 piece bands with lead and supporting singers. We praise the Lord through strong Bible led worship, through prayer, and through song and drama. For younger members of the congregation, there is an active Junior Church. Communion is served twice monthly.

Following the morning service, tea and coffee is served. This is a great time to get to know us better.

Our Beliefs

  • We believe there is one God revealing himself as God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
  • We believe that man was created in the image of God, but sinned and therefore incurred spiritual death.
  • We believe that Jesus the Son of God died for our sins, that He arose from the grave and ascended into heaven, and that he will return to earth some time in the future.
  • We believe that the Holy Bible, composed of the Old and New Testaments, is the Word of God, and is the absolute authority in life and for faith.
  • We believe that all who truly trust in Christ as Saviour and Lord are guaranteed their salvation by God from the moment they trust in Him.
  • We believe that those who trust in Christ should be baptised by total immersion in water. We believe that baptism signifies a break with the old life and the beginning of a new Christian life.
