When you walk into Emsworth Baptist Church,
we want you to feel right at home.
Attending a church for the first time can be daunting, especially if you don't know what to expect. We really value our first-time visitors and desire to make your time positive and worthwhile. If you choose to come on a Sunday morning, you will be greeted by our Welcome Team in the Foyer, who will be there to assist you, grab you a coffee, and point you in the right direction.
The following information should give you a better idea of what to expect.
If you have any further questions, please fill out a connect card.
What does a Sunday service look like?
Every Sunday starts with tea and coffee (sometimes breakfast) at 10.00am, giving us the chance to spend time together before the service begins at 10.30am. Each service is unique, but generally we will spend the first half worshipping God all together through singing, prayer and Bible readings. Our Pastor or service leader will announce any upcoming events and collect our offering (visitors are not expected to contribute), before the kids and young people leave to spend time in their own groups. The speaker will then preach from the Bible, sometimes as part of a series or theme, or just as a one off. Regardless, prepare to be informed, challenged and inspired.
How long is the service?
Our services will usually finish at approximately 11.45am (1 hour 15 minutes).
What happens after the service?
Tea and coffee is available after every service, giving us the opportunity to chat, get to know each other better and spend time together as a church family. If you would like prayer, you can head over to the back of the auditorium where our Prayer Team will gladly spend time with you.
What do I wear?
Wear whatever you feel comfortable in, whether that be shorts or jeans, shirts or hoodies, suits or dresses. We are an informal church and there is no dress code.
How can I find out more about the Church?
Talk to our Welcome Team, who are in the Foyer every Sunday morning. They will be pleased to give you a Welcome Pack and answer any questions you may have. Also, continue to look through our website!
Paper copies of the songs are available in large print from the Welcome Team if you would like, and there is a loop sound system should you need it. Our building is fully accessible to those in wheelchairs and mobility scooters, including a disabled toilet and parking spaces directly outside the building.
Kids & Young People
Kids Church is our Sunday school for kids aged between three and eleven years old. Each week we share a song, prayer time and a biblical story or theme. There are lots of opportunities for playing, games and crafts to help develop Biblical understanding and fellowship with one another. We worship together as one big group, and then split into smaller classes for our teaching.
Kids Church meet during the Sunday morning services in Brook Meadow Hall (next door to the Church). Visitors are always very welcome to join us!
Our Crèche Team love to welcome any babies and toddlers to come and play during the service! It's a great time for our youngest members to have lots of fun and make new friends. Our Crèche is located in the Foyer, so it's very easy to come and go as you please. We have comfy sofas if needed to feed your little ones, and changing facilities in our toilets too.
Parents are welcome to either stay with their babies and toddlers in the service, remain with them in Crèche and follow the service on one of our TVs, or leave them with our lovely volunteers who will look after them as they play.
Sunday Tribe is the meeting place for our young people (12+) where they learn more about God and what Christianity is all about. It is led by an enthusiastic team of leaders who want to share the Good News of the Gospel with our young people in an age-appropriate way. Our desire is to help each young person discover who they are in Christ and live in a way that cultivates their relationship with Him.
Sunday Tribe make their way to the Foyer after spending the first part of the service with the rest of the congregation. We would love for you to join us for the morning!
